Stock up on your favourite food with this American Fridge Freezer from LG. It has a huge 626 litre capacity – this means it can easily hold 34 bags of grocery shopping. It’s frost free too, so you’ll never have to spend time manually defrosting it as the constant circulation of cool air stops ice from building up. Plus, if you enjoy a lovely hearty stew during the colder months, the Moist Balance Crisper™ drawer maintains the perfect level of humidity, keeping all your fruits and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has an Inverter Linear Compressor, which uses fewer moving parts to reduce friction, noise and heat, making it extremely efficient and durable.

American fridge freezers are large appliances, so you need to make sure you measure the space where it will live to be sure it’ll fit. You’ll also need space either side so that the doors can open without hitting adjacent cupboards. If you’ve chosen a plumbed-in model, make sure there’s a water supply within 5 metres of where the appliance will live.

A, or a, is the first letter and the first vowel letter of the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, and others worldwide. Its name in English is a (pronounced AY), plural aes.

It is similar in shape to the Ancient Greek letter alpha, from which it derives. The uppercase version consists of the two slanting sides of a triangle, crossed in the middle by a horizontal bar. The lowercase version can be written in two forms: the double-storey ⟨a⟩ and single-storey ⟨ɑ⟩. The letter is commonly used in handwriting and fonts based on it, especially fonts intended to be read by children, and is also found in italic type.

In English, a is the indefinite article, with the alternative form an.

Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon with improved strength and fracture resistance compared to other forms of iron. Because of its high tensile strength and low cost, steel is one of the most commonly manufactured materials in the world. Steel is used in buildings, as concrete reinforcing rods, in bridges, infrastructure, tools, ships, trains, cars, bicycles, machines, electrical appliances, furniture, and weapons.

Iron is always the main element in steel, but many other elements may be present or added. Stainless steels, which are resistant to corrosion and oxidation, typically need an additional 11% chromium.

Iron is the base metal of steel. Depending on the temperature, it can take two crystalline forms (allotropic forms): body-centred cubic and face-centred cubic. The interaction of the allotropes of iron with the alloying elements, primarily carbon, gives steel and cast iron their range of unique properties. In pure iron, the crystal structure has relatively little resistance to the iron atoms slipping past one another, and so pure iron is quite ductile, or soft and easily formed. In steel, small amounts of carbon, other elements, and inclusions within the iron act as hardening agents that prevent the movement of dislocations.

The carbon in typical steel alloys may contribute up to 2.14% of its weight. Varying the amount of carbon and many other alloying elements, as well as controlling their chemical and physical makeup in the final steel (either as solute elements, or as precipitated phases), impedes the movement of the dislocations that make pure iron ductile, and thus controls and enhances its qualities. These qualities include the hardness, quenching behaviour, need for annealing, tempering behaviour, yield strength, and tensile strength of the resulting steel. The increase in steel's strength compared to pure iron is possible only by reducing iron's ductility.

Steel was produced in bloomery furnaces for thousands of years, but its large-scale, industrial use began only after more efficient production methods were devised in the 17th century, with the introduction of the blast furnace and production of crucible steel. This was followed by the Bessemer process in England in the mid-19th century, and then by the open-hearth furnace. With the invention of the Bessemer process, a new era of mass-produced steel began. Mild steel replaced wrought iron. The German states were the major steel producers in Europe in the 19th century. American steel production was centered in Pittsburgh, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland until the late 20th century.

Further refinements in the process, such as basic oxygen steelmaking (BOS), largely replaced earlier methods by further lowering the cost of production and increasing the quality of the final product. Today more than 1.6 billion tons of steel is produced annually. Modern steel is generally identified by various grades defined by assorted standards organizations. The modern steel industry is one of the largest manufacturing industries in the world, but also one of the most energy and greenhouse gas emission intense industries, contributing 8% of global emissions. However, steel is also very reusable: it is one of the world's most-recycled materials, with a recycling rate of over 60% globally.

We ordered this fridge freezer as we are a large family and were in desperate need of more space. In that regard, this unit is brilliant. The fridge especially is huge with a good and functional layout. The freezer is also a great size. Both sides have massive shelves on the doors which is very useful. The lighting is also brilliant – very bright and with strips running up and down the sides its super. It looks good overall. My only slight niggle is the shiny section around the handle. Its immediately “finger printed” every time you use it and of course the marks show up, but I am being picky with that one. I have taken it down to 4 stars for only really one reason. The weight of the fridge door means is constantly wants to close, so you have to hold it open. This is a bit annoying should you want to get more than one thing out of the fridge and you need two hands. The freezer door is much better and stays open without and holding. Overall though it really is super and will be well used by our family

LG is a great choice for kitchen appliances – it’s like having a Tardis to store your frozen food and perishables in ! Our home isn’t big by any means, but this model fits into our modest kitchen like a treat. It’s quiet, looks great and stores bags and bags of shopping – a relief after our smaller unit needed replacing. We did have to wait a few weeks for a suitable model to be in stock (thanks Covid ??), but perseverance on the AO website pays off. A solid, reliable no frills choice that has massive storage capacity.
