A cooler, portable ice chest, ice box, cool box, chilly bin (in New Zealand), or esky (Australia) is an insulated box used to keep food or drink cool.
Ice cubes are most commonly placed in it to help the contents inside stay cool. Ice packs are sometimes used, as they either contain the melting water inside or have a gel sealed inside that stays cold longer than plain ice (absorbing heat as it changes phase).
Coolers are often taken on picnics and on vacation or holidays. When summers are hot, they may also be used just to get cold groceries home from the store, such as keeping ice cream from melting in a sizzling automobile. Even without adding ice, this can be helpful, particularly if the trip home will be lengthy. Some coolers have built-in cupholders in the lid.
They are usually made with interior and exterior shells of plastic, with a hard foam in between. They come in sizes from small personal ones to large family ones with wheels. Disposable ones are made solely from polystyrene foam (such as a disposable coffee cup) about 2 cm or one inch thick. Most reusable ones have molded-in handles; a few have shoulder straps. The cooler has developed from just a means of keeping beverages cold into a mode of transportation with the ride-on cooler. A thermal bag, cooler bag, or cool bag is very similar in concept, but typically smaller and not rigid.
Soft may refer to:
- Softness, or hardness, a property of physical materials

These serve very well, and the issue isn’t soft or versatile outside “adds”—but simply the memory closure of the top then the dreaded zipper shredding of the knuckles for the volunteered hand used to retrieve the remaining inside old style M30 cooler.
Pass us a “discounted savings code” to use toward the purchase of a new and so improved M30.
We all know the old style can find an appreciable free home with a not yet family or friend Yeti owner, it’s one thing using the old when one’s already initially investment in it, versus continuing to deal with it upon freely passing it along.

We had the first version with the zipper and after 10 years it finally was time to replace. This one is so easy to open and close and is perfect. Hope it lasts as long or longer than our last one.

We have had the previous gen cooler for awhile now. It was a fantastic cooler except for being a little difficult to load/unload. This version fixes that perfectly.
I don’t understand everyone leaving this model a bad review. Items change overtime & problems get fixed. Not everything needs an exchange program. It wasn’t “broken” or anything like that. It had the difficult opening when everyone bought it to begin with. They could have returned it if it was so bad.
Buy this cooler. Worth every penny.

The quality is excellent, but this particular size turned out to be too big for my needs. I hope Yeti comes out with a smaller size Hopper soft cooler tote.

To all the people complaining about last years model and not being about to open it without 2 people… I use a wooden kitchen spoon, I keep it in there at all times really. Open it up stick the spoon in and BAM! it stays open and you only need 1 person to do the job. Improvise, its all good people!

I was going to buy the older version last year but decided to wait because of the complaints about the magnet. The wait paid off and I immediately bought the new and improved version earlier this month. I’ve used the cooler multiple times already and have had zero problems with the opening. I can understand the frustration of some reviewers who own the old version, but their review of the current cooler is invalid. If you are thinking about buying this new cooler, know the problem is fixed and loading/retrieving drinks is a breeze. My only complaint is the $50 price hike.

Like others who have commented, we also bought the old version last year and it is a PAIN to get things in and out of! My husband thought we should have a contest for the best items used to keep the top open to load and unload (he finds Amazon boxes work well 😉 So, like others I’m happy the change was made but bummed we can’t benefit from it.

Bought one last year and use in all the time. Love everything about it except that it will not stay open. I I carry around a wooden spoon to wedge it open. I can’t see myself spending an extra $50 if I could find last year’s model.
