A staycation (a portmanteau of "stay" and "vacation"), or holistay (a portmanteau of "holiday" and "stay"), is a period in which an individual or family stays home and participates in leisure activities within day trip distance of their home and does not require overnight accommodation. In the UK, the term has increasingly come to refer to domestic tourism: taking a holiday in one's own country as opposed to traveling abroad, as well as to staying home and participating in leisure activities within day trip distance of home and not requiring overnight accommodation.

Common activities of a staycation include the use of a backyard pool, visits to local parks and museums, and attendance at local festivals and amusement parks. Some staycationers also like to follow a set of rules, such as setting a start and end date, planning ahead, and avoiding routine, with the goal of creating the feel of a traditional vacation.

Staycations achieved popularity in the U.S. during the Great Recession in the late 2000s. In 2020 staycations became common due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. The is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers.

Vibes may refer to:

  • Vibes (percussion) or vibraphone, a musical instrument
  • Vibes (company) a mobile marketing company
  • The aura or energy given off by someone

Winter is the coldest and darkest season of the year in polar and temperate climates. It occurs after autumn and before spring. The tilt of Earth's axis causes seasons; winter occurs when a hemisphere is oriented away from the Sun. Different cultures define different dates as the start of winter, and some use a definition based on weather.

When it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere, it is summer in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa. Winter typically brings precipitation that, depending on a region's climate, is mainly rain or snow. The moment of winter solstice is when the Sun's elevation with respect to the North or South Pole is at its most negative value; that is, the Sun is at its farthest below the horizon as measured from the pole. The day on which this occurs has the shortest day and the longest night, with day length increasing and night length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice.

The earliest sunset and latest sunrise dates outside the polar regions differ from the date of the winter solstice and depend on latitude. They differ due to the variation in the solar day throughout the year caused by the Earth's elliptical orbit (see: earliest and latest sunrise and sunset).

A very nice hotel, out of expectation. The design had paid attention to the fine details – a combination of white, black and gold, Plus – the magic glass of the bathroom which was opaque initially and become transparent after pressing a button. Turn down service (夜床服務)include setting up a star projection machine so that made us feel sleeping in the space. Wonderful break in busy life.

15 mins earlier at the lobby for check-in, it was smooth. Spectacular view from the room with a neat and bright design, delightful. Everything seems quite perfect to me and don’t forget to visit the roof top bar before you go. Definitely worth it.

Location easy to access, great building look, very new decorated hotel and decent room honestly. Suppose I would be staying at explorer suite but they got me upgraded to signature suite. Staff is polite and kind and very attentive. Room is clean to be specific and the housekeeping is professional. The package is value for money obviously as compared to hotel website. If you are booking for the murray, you book for the suite with no doubt.

We celebrated our dog’s birthday with our kid here at Murray. Hotel stay wise, it was awesome. The room is modern, clean and big with a nice view (we received an upgrade). The gym was well equipped and I had a nice workout (yoga and fitness machines). The pool was small but good enough for small families like me. Not too busy there. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were all very dog and kids friendly. They alerted us of the tyre issues of our car. The restaurant staff especially Louis were very friendly. Louis at Tai Pan was very attentive and responsive. He assisted us to ensure our dog and kid were at ease. He made very good dining recommendations for our kid too. Thank you Louis! We would love to stay at Murray with our kid and dog again.

Went to the Murray on a staycation package that included the breakfast, 2 evening drinks and $1500 dining credits. The hotel was situated at the former Murray Building and had been nicely converted into a luxury hotel. The architecture and the decoration of the hotel building was really impressive, so a tour of the hotel would be a must if it is the first visit (especially when there was nothing much to see and do in the hotel). We found this out when we arrived for check-in at around 130-ish but got told the room could not be ready for another 2 and a half hour. C’mon, did they not say the check-in time was 3pm? This is the first let down of this otherwise wonderful staycation experience. If they anticipated so many people will arrive today, then maybe they should not allow late checkout for the guests on the previous day… or unless they were significantly understaffed in the housekeeping? The second let down was the promised evening drinks as part of the turndown service. So the turndown service came in the evening but only after we asked then the staff realized it was supposed to be part of the package and notified the respective department to arrange. Soon after, someone rang and asked for the choice of drinks… tea or coffee or juice, we got offered. So I asked if there was anything alcoholic then he finally replied Prosecco. So again if I didn’t ask we only got served coffee or tea in the evening? I definitely think these two minor things could have been handled much better by the hotel of such quality. Apart from these, the rest of the stay was really enjoyable. As part of the package we got a guaranteed upgrade to a N2 grand deluxe room which was really a deluxe room. The size was closed to a mini-suite size with a separate stylish bath as well as an area for shower. The bathroom privacy was protected by the “magic window” which could turn the glass from transparent see-through to non-see-through with the flick of the button. This I have only heard about it on TV before now turned into something really cool… though, like most hotels, the bathroom door could not be locked… so only go to the hotel with a companion you can trust. The bed was comfortable and you have a selection of pillows to choose from. The slippers were also one of the most comfortable I have ever worn in the hotel and I almost had the urge to take them away. The hotel’s indoor pool, though small, was again beautifully decorated with a wall of plants with streams of water flowing through to mimic mini-waterfalls. Water temperature was kept at 30C which was nice for swimming however I don’t understand why the jacuzzi was also at 30C which actually was cold comparatively (because you don’t move while sitting there) I am not surprised ppl just left after a few minutes inside. The staff was really helpful and provided a bottle of drinking water each. Food was also of high quality though this is sort of expected from a hotel of this grade. The breakfast was a semi-buffet where you could order eggs and hot meals from the menu with the rest from the stations outside. Variety was not as vast as other 5* hotels. Overall a very pleasant stay at the hotel. It was raining heavily during our entire stay and so we were kinda “trapped” inside the hotel; though it was not a bad thing considering how luxurious and comfortable the room was…. And this is also one of the few pet-friendly hotels in HK if you want to bring your hairy family member along.

The experience was great. Got upgraded to the signature suite from the explorer suite 🙂 The check in was smooth and we managed to extend our check out time. Hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. The room is very spacious, clean and nice, and has a wide selection of movies to watch 😍 Our package includes a 3 course dinner which tasted mediocre. However, the desserts were very nice and worth the money! Lastly, the breakfast was good, would give it an 8/10. A wide selection of teas and coffee were available and the food from the offered menu was amazing! Especially the french toast and omelette 😋

Overall experience was really lovely. The staff were all very kind, especially the turndown service and housekeeping staff. Breakfast exceeded my expectations but the tea set was a bit average. Dinner was pretty yummy. Ambience in restaurants were all very nice.
