A backpack—also called knapsack, schoolbag, rucksack, pack, booksack, bookbag, haversack or backsack—is, in its simplest frameless form, a fabric sack carried on one's back and secured with two straps that go over the shoulders; but it can have an external or internal frame, and there are bodypacks.

Backpacks are commonly used by hikers and students, and are often preferred to handbags for carrying heavy loads or carrying any sort of equipment, because of the limited capacity to carry heavy weights for long periods of time with hands.

Large backpacks, used to carry loads over 10 kilograms (22 lb), as well as smaller sports backpacks (e.g. running, cycling, hiking, and hydration), usually offload the largest part (up to about 90%) of their weight onto padded hip belts, leaving the shoulder straps mainly for stabilizing the load. This improves the potential to carry heavy loads, as the hips are stronger than the shoulders, and also increases agility and balance, since the load rides nearer the wearer's own center of mass.

A day is the time period of a full rotation of the Earth with respect to the Sun. On average, this is 24 hours (86,400 seconds). As a day passes at a given location it experiences morning, noon, afternoon, evening, and night. This daily cycle drives circadian rhythms in many organisms, which are vital to many life processes.

A collection of sequential days is organized into calendars as dates, almost always into weeks, months and years. A solar calendar organizes dates based on the Sun's annual cycle, giving consistent start dates for the four seasons from year to year. A lunar calendar organizes dates based on the Moon's lunar phase.

In common usage, a day starts at midnight, written as 00:00 or 12:00 am in 24- or 12-hour clocks, respectively. Because the time of midnight varies between locations, time zones are set up to facilitate the use of a uniform standard time. Other conventions are sometimes used, for example the Jewish religious calendar counts days from sunset to sunset, so the Jewish Sabbath begins at sundown on Friday. In astronomy, a day begins at noon so that observations throughout a single night are recorded as happening on the same day.

In specific applications, the definition of a day is slightly modified, such as in the SI day (exactly 86,400 seconds) used for computers and standards keeping, local mean time accounting of the Earth's natural fluctuation of a solar day, and stellar day and sidereal day (using the celestial sphere) used for astronomy. In most countries outside of the tropics, daylight saving time is practiced, and each year there will be one 23-hour civil day and one 25-hour civil day. Due to slight variations in the rotation of the Earth, there are rare times when a leap second will get inserted at the end of a UTC day, and so while almost all days have a duration of 86,400 seconds, there are these exceptional cases of a day with 86,401 seconds (in the half-century spanning 1972 through 2022, there have been a total of 27 leap seconds that have been inserted, so roughly once every other year).

A laptop computer or notebook computer, also known as a laptop or notebook, is a small, portable personal computer (PC). Laptops typically have a clamshell form factor with a flat-panel screen on the inside of the upper lid and an alphanumeric keyboard and pointing device on the inside of the lower lid. Most of the computer's internal hardware is fitted inside the lower lid enclosure under the keyboard, although many modern laptops have a built-in webcam at the top of the screen, and some even feature a touchscreen display. In most cases, unlike tablet computers which run on mobile operating systems, laptops tend to run on desktop operating systems, which were originally developed for desktop computers.

The word laptop, modeled after the term desktop (as in desktop computer), refers to the fact that the computer can be practically placed on the user's lap; while the word notebook refers to most laptops sharing a form factor with paper notebooks. As of 2024, in American English, the terms laptop and notebook are used interchangeably; in other dialects of English, one or the other may be preferred. The term notebook originally referred to a type of portable computer that was smaller and lighter than mainstream laptops of the time, but has since come to mean the same thing and no longer refers to any specific size.

Laptops are used in a variety of settings, such as at work (especially on business trips), in education, for playing games, web browsing, for personal multimedia, and for general home computer use. They can run on both AC power and rechargable battery packs and can be folded shut for convenient storage and transportation, making them suitable for mobile use. Laptops combine many of the input/output components and capabilities of a desktop computer into a single unit, including a display screen (usually 11–17 in or 280–430 mm in diagonal size), small speakers, a keyboard, and a pointing device (namely compact ones such as touchpads or pointing sticks). Hardware specifications may vary significantly between different types, models, and price points.

Design elements, form factors, and construction can also vary significantly between models depending on the intended use. Examples of specialized models of laptops include 2-in-1 laptops, with keyboards that either be detached or pivoted out of view from the display (often marketed having a "laptop mode"); rugged laptops, for use in construction or military applications; and low-production-cost laptops such as those from the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) organization, which incorporate features like solar charging and semi-flexible components not found on most laptop computers. Portable computers, which later developed into modern laptops, were originally considered to be a small niche market, mostly for specialized field applications, such as in the military, for accountants, or travelling sales representatives. As portable computers evolved into modern laptops, they became widely used for a variety of purposes.

Owls are birds from the order Strigiformes (), which includes over 200 species of mostly solitary and nocturnal birds of prey typified by an upright stance, a large, broad head, binocular vision, binaural hearing, sharp talons, and feathers adapted for silent flight. Exceptions include the diurnal northern hawk-owl and the gregarious burrowing owl.

Owls are divided into two families: the true (or typical) owl family, Strigidae, and the barn owl family, Tytonidae. Owls hunt mostly small mammals, insects, and other birds, although a few species specialize in hunting fish. They are found in all regions of the Earth except the polar ice caps and some remote islands.

A group of owls is called a "parliament".

This is my first DayOwl Product. To keep it simple, it’s a really nice-looking pack with good features. Build quality feels robust, the material feels good in the hand, the zippers are smooth so it opens and closes easily, and storage is thoughtfully designed. Bought the Slate Grey color and felt it was true to the photos on the website. Bought for a smaller-sized friend (158cm tall) and it fit her frame well unlike some backpacks that can seem oversized on her. The only thing to note/be aware of is that as other reviews have mentioned, the material does pick up scratches! We think it looks alright and adds some character to the backpack but can imagine it disturbing others 🙂

It took me months of searching to find the perfect backpack for trekking back into the office post-pandemic, carting a laptop on busy public transportation. I really wanted to find a practical while stylish bag with a separate laptop compartment. The Day Owl slim sized bag ticks most of my wishlist off. To start it has that laptop compartment. It is perfect for my petite frame and fits me like the regular bag would fit taller people. It’s really worth sizing down if you’re petite! It’s a beautiful bag! All materials look and feel expensive and it has a sleek design, both professional and fashionable. I’m a big fan of its simple rounded edges and mate hardware that’s hidden by fabric. I love that there’s no bulky pockets protruding anywhere. All the pockets are concealed and well thought out. For example, it fits a wine bottle in a dedicated side compartment and has a handy little sunglasses top pocket. I’m happy with my purchase. It won’t fit a tone, but I don’t want to tote too much around.
The reasons for deduction of 1 star: choice of colors for the smaller scale bag is limited. I would have preferred the navy blue but I didn’t want to compromise on size, so I settled for the olive green. It’s nice but still too bad not all colors were available. The other issue is the straps. I read in other reviews that they aren’t comfortable and I would have to agree they don’t sit quite right and dig in. I’m not going to carry it for long periods but it works for the office commute which is the purpose I got it for.

Everything about the Slim Backpack is well constructed. I opted for the Pale Olive and it goes well with most of my wardrobe since it’s a lot of muted earth colours and some blues. If anything, I wish the beverage pocket doesn’t restrict access to the interior pockets when it’s occupied (in a way it reminds you to rehydrate haha) but other than that, the bag overall is great for daily walks and transit. Makes me excited to get the regular sized Backpack knowing it’s the same format but I can bring more stuff with me.

I love the slim backpack! It is thin while still having a lot of space, and is so comfortable to wear. The package came super quickly and I had a great experience.

I LOVE this bag!!! It keeps all of my things in the bag plus when I travel it holds my Chromebook and it still doesn’t feel heavy on shoulder and back. Being sustainable is just icing on the cake. Thank you 💖

Well constructed and a good size! I only wish the top pocket fit my iPhone. I’m not sure why it’s so small.

Very slim! Maybe too slim? But I think the regular sized bag would be too big? I like the look and feel, love the side spot for my water bottle, and all the organizational bits. Really like the feeling of the canvas.

This bag wears comfortably, keeps my hands free, and holds all the necessities for a family outing – 3 water bottles, my wristlet/walllet, phone, keys, sunglasses, wipes, hand sanitizer, and tissues with room for more! I like to use the laptop pouch for books. When it has been heavy, it has still been decently comfortable for me. I would not say the straps dug into my shoulders. My only complaint is the white “scratch marks” that appeared after the first use that did not come off with a damp rag. I love the look of this bag, it was not cheap, so I’m pretty disappointed it got marked up after one use. The closeup shot makes it look grey, but the blue really is beautiful.

I’m in love with this bag! It’s slender, but holds all my stuff. I’m embarrassingly obsessed with backpacks and this is by far my favorite!

I have a short torso and back problems and most backpacks are too big for me and I wanted something cute for my subway commute. This fits perfectly and it sits on my back so well and it doesn’t hurt my back at all. I can fit all I need to commute to and from work. The laptop pocket is great and fits my 13in MacBook Pro w/hard case very snuggly. Not enough room for traveling more than a night anywhere, especially if I need shoes but I don’t think I’d use it for that anyway.

I take public transportation for work so I wanted something small but able to fit everything I need and it’s perfect. I love the quality, including two small laptops, a 1000 page book, notebook, water bottle, and of course small things like wallet, keys, earphones.
