A paddle is a handheld tool with an elongated handle and a flat, widened end (the blade) used as a lever to apply force onto the bladed end. It most commonly describes a completely handheld tool used to propel a human-powered watercraft by pushing water in a direction opposite to the direction of travel (i.e. paddling). A paddle is different from an oar (which can be similar in shape and perform the same function via rowing) – an oar is attached to the watercraft via a fulcrum.
The term "paddle" can also be used to describe objects of similar shapes or functions:
- A rotating set of paddle boards known as a paddle wheel is used to propel a steamboat or paddle steamer.
- In a number of racquet sports (e.g. ping-pong and paddle ball), a "paddle" or "bat" is a short, solid racket used to strike a ball.
- A mixing paddle is a device used to stir or mix separate ingredients within a mixture.
- A spanking paddle is used in corporal punishment, typically to forcefully hit someone (e.g. a juvenile) on the buttocks.
Redfish is a common name for several species of fish. It is most commonly applied to certain deep-sea rockfish in the genus Sebastes, red drum from the genus Sciaenops or the reef dwelling snappers in the genus Lutjanus. It is also applied to the slimeheads or roughies (family Trachichthyidae), and the alfonsinos (Berycidae).

So rad, loving my Rackham paddle board. It’s amazing on the water

After drooling over a Bote board for 3+ years I finally pulled the trigger on a 12′ Rackham. The fit and finish is second to none, and it is a fishing machine. It is incredibly stable, allowing much better visibility for sight fishing since I’m no longer worried about falling over like I was in my 14′ kayak. Now I’m wishing I hadn’t waiting 3 years to buy one!

Love the board and learning to maneuver as a novice.

This is an awesome SUP. My husband and I went out on rented boards a few years ago and he hated them. I bought these and convinced him to go with me. They are very stable, have a great weight capacity (we took fishing gear), and they track through the water quite nicely. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to get out for fun, fishing, or exercise.
