Onn is the Irish name of the seventeenth letter of the Ogham alphabet, ᚑ, meaning "ash-tree", which is related to Welsh onn(en), from the root was *ōs-, *osen 'ash'. Its phonetic value is [o]. The letter's Bríatharogam kennings are the following:

  • congnaid ech "wounder of horses"
  • féthem soíre "smoothest of craftsmanship"
  • lúth fían "[equipment] of warrior bands"

These refer to different uses of ashwood as horsewhips, wood used by carpenters, and for spears. In the Old Irish period, onn "ash" was replaced by uinnius. McManus takes this as an indication that the Ogham letter names date to the Primitive Irish period.

Roku ( ROH-koo) is a brand of smart TV operating systems, smart TVs, streaming devices, and smart home and audio products designed and marketed by Roku, Inc., headquartered in San Jose, California, United States. Roku's smart TV products primarily offer access to streaming media content, including streaming television, from online services.

One of Roku's early products was a digital media player developed in collaboration with Netflix and introduced in May 2008, and it has since released at least 10 generations of streaming players. Roku's products have historically been built around the idea of utilizing low-cost hardware interfaces for over-the-top (OTT) media consumption. Roku, Inc., also licenses its Roku OS operating system as middleware for smart TVs, and as of 2023 manufactures its own branded smart TVs, soundbars and smart home devices. The Roku OS targets streaming TVs or devices as its primary hardware, like Amazon's Fire OS, Samsung's Tizen OS, Google's Android TV OS, and Apple's tvOS.

By some estimates, as of 2022 the Roku OS is the leading streaming TV platform in the US in terms of market share. The Roku OS also holds a noticeable 30.5% share of the global TV streaming hours, whereas the Roku Channel Store has the largest collection of TV channels among all streaming TV platforms, hosting 38,941 channels as of 2023.

I had recently got a HP Pavilion Gaming Ryzen 5 Gaming Desktop for my basement mancave. At the time I had a Samsung 40in LCD TV (LN40C610N1F) as a monitor, which the TV was designed back in 2010. It was time to upgrade the size and resolution of the TV I was using as a monitor. Here comes the onn. 50″ Class 4K UHD LED Roku Smart TV stepping up to the plate for my needs. The 50” is a perfect fit on my desk that I already have in place in the basement. I can definitely notice the upgrade from my previous Samsung to the 4K UHD (3840 X 2160 resolution). The onn UHD LED also has a Game Mode (In the Options menu you proceed to Picture Settings), which helps reduce the input lag for gaming. You can see the great detail in the picture I uploaded of Imperator Rome. The TV comes with 3 HDMI, AV inputs, USB, LAN (Ethernet), Digital Audi Output (for any soundbars that may require it), Headphone auxiliary, and coaxial for cable or antenna hookup. I had a Wi-Fi access point (NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900) that I hardwired to the Ethernet input to TV for uninterrupted streaming. Streaming is a cinch because this smart TV comes with Roku. This allows you access to Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, Disney+, Amazon, Apple TV, Sling TV & etc. This means no need to by an additional streaming stick/device to being able to get access to your favorite streaming services that you have memberships to already. Overall, I’m very pleased with the product and the features that it provides.

This tv is amazing. The screen has a small frame. The quality of the tv is amazing. Easy to put the feet on. Easy to set up the channels and settings. Sturdy made. The only problem was a couple times when u turn it on sometimes it glitches and doesn’t show anything for a couple make minutes. The sound is absolutely perfect. Not to heavy of a product. Games and movies on this tv are simply sublime. I can definitely say this brand of tv and size make it absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend this item. Would be great for a wide variety of ages and genders.

I absolutely love this TV. I was a little apprehensive as I usually spring for a different brand but Onn. Has exceeded my expectations! The roku interface is super easy to use and the sound quality is top notch. I though the 50in might be too big for a bedroom TV but it’s perfect size. The color is phenomenal! I also love that the remote has a sleep button that’s easy to set. I was also able to download a remote on my phone. Over all I am very happy with the Onn 4K TV. I would highly recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a nice roku TV on a budget!

This TV is great!! The picture and the sound are both fantastic. I turned on a 4k YouTube video of the Norwegian landscape to test, and WOW!!!! It’s amazing, like the imax movies we went to as kids. Non 4k shows also look great. There are different settings for the color, and I really love that there is a brightness setting. I read complaints about the sound but I’ve only needed to turn it up to 17 (out of 100). It’s loud and clear and there are lots of optional settings to tweak it. I have a soundbar but stopped using it because the TV sounds better.

Unlike my regular Roku, this TV picks up the 5 ghz band. Activation of the Roku was easy. As with any Roku, if you’re on a page requiring payment, you’re in the wrong spot! I signed in with my existing account and skipped the payment prompt. It updated all my channels I have set up on my other Roku.

It wouldn’t pick up regular over the air channels, but my old TV struggled as well. I added an antenna/amplifier and picked up all the local channels. I LOVE the menu for the regular TV channels. The whole TV has a nice simple interface. Even the volume icon is bigger and easy to read.

The TV is quite large, so it was hard to find a place for it. The feet are around 40 inches apart, so you need more than that to set it on. You only need a regular screwdriver to put the feet on and it’s done.

I would absolutely recommend this TV. I can’t speak for long term, but I have an Onn tablet that is like new even after several months, so I expect the TV will do great. I received this one at no cost, but it’s a great deal even at full price. This is fantastic quality and lovely to watch.

The 50-inch Onn. 4K UHD Roku Led Smart TV has been the upgrade my living room has desperately been needing. Set-up was relatively quick (about 10 minutes) – the 2 legs of the stand each have 2 screws (included) that you use a screwdriver (not included) to attach to the TV. They have anti-slip grips underneath to prevent any tipping and to maintain stability. The resolution is incredibly clear and crisp with a 60 Hz refresh rate. It has an ultra thin profile and looks fantastic on top of a fire mantle. I have an indoor antenna that gets free over-the-air, digital channels (ABC, NBC, etc) and they all come in so clear – the TV will also show the signal strength. Closed captions come in perfectly and the TV channel guide is outstanding – it shows a list of all your channels and descriptions of everything that is on with times. There are also plenty of ports on the back: 3 HDMI, 1 Composite, 1 USB, 1 Optical, 1 Coaxial/Cable, and 1 LAN. Perfect for hooking up a Blu-Ray player and any gaming systems that are in your collection. The sound on this TV is excellent – no need for a soundbar – and you can customize the settings with your remote. The remote comes with batteries included and features various buttons to instantly switch between apps (like Hulu, Vudu, Disney, and Netflix), rewind, fast forward, pause, and play. Volume control and a mute button is on the side of the remote — yes, it applies to the over-the-air channels, too! If you have an external USB drive, you can plug it into the TV so that you can activate 90-minute rewind with live TV on over-the-air channels – which is sooo cool! There are hundreds of apps that you can download for free shows and movies with Roku, so your choices are virtually endless. This is a perfect choice for a Christmas present – I highly recommend!

This TV is perfect for streaming content. It has a Roku built into it (no cables needed!) + many input options. The video quality is fantastic – a huge upgrade for me personally, from my last TV. The sound quality is also top notch.

This TV also comes with a Roku remote – but you’ll need two AAA batteries (not included). Alt: you can use the Roku app on your phone. Also, its mounting compatible & is pretty lightweight, so a great choice if you’d like to mount this thing.

Wow!! This tv is bigger than my Honda fit! I have to borrow my mom’s truck just to take it home. Perfect to watch my hallmark Christmas movies on. I’m so glad i found this amazing deal. Yes delivery took almost 1 month to be delivered but i had the deliver company contact me since this tv requires a signature to be delivered. Probably since there are alot of packages being stolen this time of year. I can’t wait until the new Christmas movies come out next week. This could also be a perfect gift for someone.

This t.v. is awesome. The picture is crisp. The interface is user friendly and the remote has all the right buttons. Of course it has Netflix and Hulu, but this remote includes DISNEY PLUS. My 6 year old is able to find anything she wants to watch without any fuss. Operation between apps is seamless. The sound is fantastic. Gets loud. Has 3 HDMI ports and 1 USB port. It seems to be built well. It comes with a base and all necessary screws, but we had to buy longer screws to mount it on our entertainment center. Great t.v., definitely reccommend.
