Band is true to size; cup is true to size.

A bra, short for brassiere or brassière (US: , UK: ; French: [bʁasjɛʁ]), is a form-fitting underwear that is primarily used to support and cover a woman's breasts. A typical bra consists of a chest band that wraps around the torso, supporting two breast cups that are held in place by shoulder straps. A bra usually fastens in the back, using a hook and eye fastener, although bras are available in a large range of styles and sizes, including front-fastening and backless designs. Some bras are designed for specific functions, such as nursing bras to facilitate breastfeeding or sports bras to minimize discomfort during exercise.

Although women in ancient Greece and Rome wore garments to support their breasts, the first modern bra is attributed to 19-year-old Mary Phelps Jacob who created the garment in 1913 by using two handkerchiefs and some ribbon. After patenting her design in 1914, she briefly manufactured bras at a two-woman factory in Boston, Massachusetts before selling her patent to the Warner Brothers Corset Company, which began mass-producing the garment. The bra gained widespread adoption during the first half of the twentieth century, when it largely replaced the corset. The majority of Western women today wear bras, with a minority choosing to go braless. Bra manufacturing and retailing are key components of the multi-billion-dollar global lingerie industry.

This amazing bra is receiving my first online review, ever. I’ve been ordering items online since that became a thing, and have never felt compelled to do this before. My lovely breasts have been through a lot… Most of my adult life they have been size 32DD. They experienced two pregnancies, and a total of 6 years of nursing. They reached a maximum status of 32I (yes, 32-eye) when my milk first came in. During their nursing years, they were amazing and dynamic and fulfilled their task admirably. Now that I am 42 years old, they have settled in to be a full, if somewhat lower, 32DDD. Which means: I hate bras. And I buy GOOD bras. I’ve shopped at Nordstrom since I was 19 and discovered that 32D was not a pretend bra size (trying to go “up” in size, I had been wearing 36C…) Lately I had given up. Wearing underwire for shaping had all but become a thing of the past, as I was ripping my bras off a few hours after putting them on. I decided that “low” was a lovely look on me, and started wearing my soft bras OUT OF THE HOUSE. I decided to take a look around Nordstrom one more time, with no expectations of what I would find. Then the salesperson (they are always so helpful and kind at Alderwood) handed me this bra. Of course, following my instructions, she handed me a 32DD. That is when I discovered that an extra D had snuck up on me. I donned the Bliss Perfection in the proper size, and I could not believe how much comfort had found me in the shape of a lovely, well, shape. The material itself is soft and soothing to the skin. Even the lace. The straps must be made of a material that is also not typical, because my shoulders have never felt so unencumbered by a traditional underwire bra. My only complaint, and I leave it just to be well-rounded, is that the material does not seem to age as well as other formed bras. And I’m okay with that. This is a bra that I will buy more often; it’s worth every penny.

This bra makes me so sad. I was so excited because I thought I had found a new favorite bra, but no matter what I wear, you can see the shape of my nipples through this bra. The fabric isn’t thick enough or something. I guess I’m going to have to get something with a little bit of padding to fix this problem. My custom bra fit person Nala in the NYC flagship store was amazing though! I really thought she went above and beyond to help me. Unfortunately I just cant get this bra to work.

I loved the fit and comfort of most of this bra, but I had to send it back. There was something in the clasp that was sticking me in the back. It felt like plastic or wire, but I believe it is really just the hard material of the clasp and/or how it is sewn.
