A coat is typically an outer garment for the upper body, worn by any gender for warmth or fashion. Coats typically have long sleeves and are open down the front, and closing by means of buttons, zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners (AKA velcro), toggles, a belt, or a combination of some of these. Other possible features include collars, shoulder straps, and hoods.
Down most often refers to:
- Down, the relative direction opposed to up
- Down (gridiron football), in North American/gridiron football, a period when one play takes place
- Down feather, a soft bird feather used in bedding and clothing
- Downland, a type of hill

Grosgrain ( GROH-grayn, also sometimes GROS-grayn) is a type of fabric or ribbon defined by the fact that its weft is heavier than its warp, creating prominent transverse ribs. Grosgrain is a plain weave corded fabric, with heavier cords than poplin but lighter than faille, and is known for being a firm, close-woven, fine-corded fabric. Grosgrain has a dull appearance, with little luster in comparison to many fabric weaves, such as satin, often used for ribbons; however, it is comparatively very strong. Grosgrain fabric is most commonly available in black, but grosgrain ribbon comes in a large variety of colors and patterns. The ribbon is very similar to Petersham ribbon in its appearance, but it does not have the ability to follow the curves of a surface or edge the way that the latter does.
"Grosgrain" is commonly used to refer to a heavy, stiff ribbon of silk or nylon woven via taffeta weave using a heavy weft, which results in distinct transverse ribs. Historically, grosgrain was made from wool, silk, or a combination of fibers such as silk and wool or silk and mohair. When a combination of fibers was used, the end result was sometimes given the name grogram, silk mohair, gros de Tours or gros de Naples.
Hermine is a feminine form of Herman, consisting of the elements harja- "army" and mann- "man".
It could also be a variant of the Greek name Hermione.
Hermine, Herminie, or Hermin may refer to:
Moncler S.p.A. is an Italian luxury fashion brand specialized in ready-to-wear outerwear headquartered in Milan, Italy. Since its start as a down jacket boutique, Moncler has expanded to design vests, raincoats, windbreakers, knitwear, leather goods, footwear, fragrance and related accessories. Its core branding includes the cockerel, "M" monogram, felt appliqué badge, crossed skis and cartoon duck mascot.
Founded in the Alpine town of Monestier-de-Clermont, France, Moncler quilted jackets were used by cold-weather workers, mountaineers and skiers. Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini bought the near-bankrupt company in 2003 and moved it to Milan, re-launching Moncler as a global purveyor of luxury goods. Its use of private equity financing during the late-2000s and early-2010s saw to its listing on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2013. Moncler reported €2.98 billion in revenue in 2023. The house's collaborations with emerging designers and €1.15 billion-acquisition of Stone Island in 2020, has led to its increased presence in streetwear fashion.
Water is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula H2O. It is a transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance. It is the main constituent of Earth's hydrosphere and the fluids of all known living organisms (in which it acts as a solvent). It is vital for all known forms of life, despite not providing food energy or organic micronutrients. Its chemical formula, H2O, indicates that each of its molecules contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms, connected by covalent bonds. The hydrogen atoms are attached to the oxygen atom at an angle of 104.45°. In liquid form, H2O is also called "water" at standard temperature and pressure.
Because Earth's environment is relatively close to water's triple point, water exists on Earth as a solid, a liquid, and a gas. It forms precipitation in the form of rain and aerosols in the form of fog. Clouds consist of suspended droplets of water and ice, its solid state. When finely divided, crystalline ice may precipitate in the form of snow. The gaseous state of water is steam or water vapor.
Water covers about 71% of the Earth's surface, with seas and oceans making up most of the water volume (about 96.5%). Small portions of water occur as groundwater (1.7%), in the glaciers and the ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland (1.7%), and in the air as vapor, clouds (consisting of ice and liquid water suspended in air), and precipitation (0.001%). Water moves continually through the water cycle of evaporation, transpiration (evapotranspiration), condensation, precipitation, and runoff, usually reaching the sea.
Water plays an important role in the world economy. Approximately 70% of the fresh water used by humans goes to agriculture. Fishing in salt and fresh water bodies has been, and continues to be, a major source of food for many parts of the world, providing 6.5% of global protein. Much of the long-distance trade of commodities (such as oil, natural gas, and manufactured products) is transported by boats through seas, rivers, lakes, and canals. Large quantities of water, ice, and steam are used for cooling and heating in industry and homes. Water is an excellent solvent for a wide variety of substances, both mineral and organic; as such, it is widely used in industrial processes and in cooking and washing. Water, ice, and snow are also central to many sports and other forms of entertainment, such as swimming, pleasure boating, boat racing, surfing, sport fishing, diving, ice skating, snowboarding, and skiing.

Great looking down coat. There are tons of down coats out there but this stands out with its interesting styling details and superb quality. And it is so cozy and warm. I bought my first Moncler down coat over 10 years ago and it still looks great even after suffering the abuse of many New England winters. I expect this coat to do the same. I’m 5’3″, 101 pounds. I originally ordered size 0 but had to exchange it for size 1. Size 0 fit but it was a bit snug under the arms when I tried it on over a blazer or bulky sweater. Also the waist was too high. The size 1 fits perfectly. Now I’m actually looking forward to the cold weather so that I can show off my gorgeous coat.

A lot of puffers look blocky but this one has seams that give it a shape that goes in at the waist, even if the internal drawstring isn’t pulled. It is a terrific cut for someone who has a smaller upper body but needs room at the hips. I bought the black and the grosgrain ribbon trim is a nice textural detail that breaks up the solid color. The hood snaps off but the snaps show along the neckline of the coat which looks a little odd. The coat is quite lightweight but is warm. It is a good above the knee length on 5’3’ me. I love that that the label indicates that it is washable. Normally my Nordstrom True Fit recommendations are spot on but I found the recommended size to be very off for this item. I took two sizes smaller than what was recommended. I found the size conversions listed in the product details to be a much better guide, though even then I took one size smaller than what the guide indicates, probably due to the shape of this coat and the way it flares out over the hips.

Just bought this and love it! Outstanding quality and style. It hit right below the knee and was perfect for me even though I’m petite 5’1″

One of my favorites! This coat is so stylish and lightweight and goes with everything. The adjustable elastic on the inside of the waistband lets you cinch in the waist for a flattering fitted shape. I took one size larger than my usual Moncler size.
