Flooring is the general term for a permanent covering of a floor, or for the work of installing such a floor covering. Floor covering is a term to generically describe any finish material applied over a floor structure to provide a walking surface. Both terms are used interchangeably but floor covering refers more to loose-laid materials.

An oak is a hardwood tree or shrub in the genus Quercus of the beech family. They have spirally arranged leaves, often with lobed edges, and a nut called an acorn, borne within a cup. The genus is widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere; it includes some 500 species, both deciduous and evergreen. Fossil oaks date back to the Middle Eocene. Molecular phylogeny shows that the genus is divided into Old World and New World clades, but many oak species hybridise freely, making the genus's history difficult to resolve.

Ecologically, oaks are keystone species in habitats from Mediterranean semi-desert to subtropical rainforest. They live in association with many kinds of fungi including truffles. Oaks support more than 950 species of caterpillar, many kinds of gall wasp which form distinctive galls, roundish woody lumps such as the oak apple, and a large number of pests and diseases. Oak leaves and acorns contain enough tannin to be toxic to cattle, but pigs are able to digest them safely. Oak timber is strong and hard, and has found many uses in construction and furniture-making. The bark was traditionally used for tanning leather. Wine barrels are made of oak; these are used for aging alcoholic beverages such as sherry and whisky, giving them a range of flavours, colours, and aromas. The spongy bark of the cork oak is used to make traditional wine bottle corks. Almost a third of oak species are threatened with extinction due to climate change, invasive pests, and habitat loss.

In culture, the oak tree is a symbol of strength and serves as the national tree of many countries. In Indo-European and related religions, the oak is associated with thunder gods. Individual oak trees of cultural significance include the Royal Oak in Britain, the Charter Oak in the United States, and the Guernica Oak in the Basque Country.

Plank or The Plank may refer to:

We recently had Scott from Crew2 install our Sterling Oak Vinyl Plank Flooring. He did an excellent job and finished it the same day by himself, which is impressive! Scott has been doing floors I believe for 38 years and he was very informative, efficient, and experienced. He knew what he was doing and I knew we were in good hands. We’ve only had the floor for a few days, so I can only comment on the look and installation of it, which is awesome. I was a little hesitant with the color of the flooring because we painted our basement ourselves and the paint dried a little different from the sample that we had chose, but the walls and flooring look pretty good together. Now waiting for Crew2 to come out and change the carpeting on the stairs, which I’m sure will be excellent as well, since Crew2 had installed new carpeting in our house when we moved in a year ago.

These floors are absolutely beautiful! What a great pick! We have used other tongue and groove flooring in other rooms of our house and this is by far the best! We have three children who run and drag toys everywhere absolutely no scratches! We also have a dog who is constantly chasing the toys that the kids are throwing ,sliding with his nails on the floor … still no scratches looks brand new we’ve had them installed for about a month and I’m absolutely 1000% satisfied and highly recommended to everyone and anyone pictures might show crazy looking wall I just know in the middle of diy remodeling!

We primarily went with Sterling Oak because it also was available in matching Cap A Tread stairs plus all the supporting moldings were also available. Without the matching 1/4 round moldings, T-molding, Carpet Reducers, etc. the job is not going to look finished in the end. But fortunately we were very happy with the results. Lifeproof vinyl flooring has a top notch reputation. We are very pleased with the quality and the results.

This is very high quality flooring that we used on a wall. We have a section of wall in our bathroom that used to be just painted drywall. The toilet is close to it and from time to time a few fine drops of spray from flushing would hit this section of the bathroom wall and cleaning it never seemed ideal. We considered tiling it with something like subway tile. But then we saw this light colored oak vinyl flooring that seemed to fit the look of our bathroom better. It is 100% waterproof, really sturdy, and easy to clean, so we chose this. It went up super easy. We floated it, just like you would if you used it on the floor, by leaving a small gap and trimming it out all around with some barn wood molding that I custom made. There were a couple of cutouts. One for a register and another for an in the wall toilet paper holder. The whole project couldn’t have been easier to do or looked better when completed. My wife thinks it is “awesome.” Again, this “flooring” is really easy to clean and solved a problem for us that we’ve lived with for a few years. We have zero regrets going this way over tiling the wall.

This went in our bathroom – we’ve installed two other types of wood laminate flooring in our home. This was easier to install than the others and seems to be a good solid floor with nice wood like appearance. The pieces snap together but if you need to unsnap them the joint breaks easily and is difficult to use again. We ordered 5 boxes and we check all the planks for recurring patterns – they are mirror images so you have to be aware to not run them together otherwise we are happy with the floor and hope to see it stand up for some time.

I ordered 8 boxes in September and just now installed it (December) because we’re building a house and I wanted these custom in our den. This product is relatively easy to install. Tedious. However, a whole box was basically useless because the ends that are supposed to click together were brittle & cracked and broke apart the second you tried to connect them, so they were useless. This was NOT a shipping issue despite Home Depot rejecting my first review- the boxes themselves were not damaged at all during. I would’ve taken it back had I not been under serious time constraints. I ended up using construction adhesive to ensure security on a few boards. With that said, I love the look of these. We didn’t plank these, as I didn’t want the offset look. But the colors and graining of them are just what I wanted! It took about 4 hours start to finish due to the damaged planks and tricky corner cuts. All in all, I’d recommend. But if quality control is lacking with this company, as some other reviews mention the same issue, I’d thoroughly inspect upon receiving and possibly order even more than you’d need for standard waste.
