I have Lifeproof Walton Oak Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring in my living room, dining area, kitchen and laundry room and just love it. When I got the chance to install Lifeproof Sundance Canyon Hickory Waterproof High Traffic Luxury Vinyl Plank with Embossed Finish, I was interested to see if the product has improved in the last two years. My current floor was easy to install and looks just as good today as it did the day I installed it and that is with two dogs and a cat sliding and chasing one and other around. I have yet to see one toenail scratch. As an aside, my brother also has Lifeproof flooring with two large dogs, lives in the country, and his floor looks brand new after over two year. I was impressed how the Lifeproof folks addressed the problem of chipped corners during shipping and handling. They a little plastic corner protector at each of the four corners in each box. I did not have one chipped corner in 16 boxes. Next, the embossed finish was more realistic and resembled a hand-scraped wood floor finish. The edges have just a slight V-groove that also adds to the realism. Finally, it appears the Lifeproof engineers attempted to improved the click-lock tongue and groove for easier installation. I had some difficulty engaging the click-lock and had to try different planks to make the connection. The tongue portion of the click-lock is thinner than previous and is more subject to damage upon installation. In addition, the end locks are considerably longer and great care must be taken to ensure a clean lock without bending/breaking the tab. Once locked into place, these planks should not move even a fraction. The new style of click-lock flooring did not come with updated instructions, although the process is essentially the same. The internet has any number of videos covering installation of this type of product. Nevertheless, having updated instructions would have been helpful. My installation included the master closet, master bedroom and master bathroom. Getting the first three rows aligned and straight was, as usual, a bit tricky, but once you achieve this stage, the remainder of the planks go together fairly easily. I really liked the beveled edges where each plank meet. The finished product is amazingly beautiful. I look forward to the ease of cleaning that luxury vinyl planks are famous for. Lifeproof vinyl plank flooring is a great DIY project that transforms any room and can be successfully completed by even the most novice of DIYers. If the color does not wow you, they have dozens more from which to choose. I highly recommend this product, especially with the new design.

Here is a wonderful solution for one’s flooring needs where a waterproof flooring is useful in damp areas or a children’s playroom. The sky is the limit when choosing flooring and this LIFEPROOF 7.13 IN. W BANFF GRAY HICKORY EMBOSSED WATERPROOF CLICK LOCK LUXURY VINYL PLANK FLOORING is simple to install that most handy homeowners can tackle. The instructions are well illustrated and requires a few simple tools. This can be easily cut with a razor knife making for a simpler job than other laminate. The color is consistent throughout and the color is on the lighter side and blends well with most bath fixtures and kitchen appliances. I have owned and installed many types of flooring throughout the years and this LIFEPROOF flooring is a great product I feel will last many years and add a beautiful touch to one’s décor. A high quality product. Here is a few helpful tips I hope will make your installation error free: 1. Measure twice go to the store once. Be sure to allow some overage to prevent a trip back for more. One can always return an unused/unopened box. Get everything in one trip for your project. 2. In some applications such as concrete, there are many types of underlayment to choose from and a flooring specialist at The Home Depot can advise what type is best for your particular project if needed. 3. Read the instructions thoroughly. Twice! No one likes something missed mid-job. LOL. 4. Don’t forget the trim- if needed. Color matched trim is available but painted trim that matches original trim works well too. 5. Knee protection is needed. I use a foam garden mat as most knee pads are hard to keep in place. 6. Tapping block kits/tools are available in the flooring section at The Home Depot at a small cost and minimize damage to the flooring. These tools aid in a simpler installation and a more professional looking floor. 7. A level floor works the best with laminate to prevent separation. Inspect your floor first and correct any bad areas. Does it need leveler, another sub floor down or a thicker underlayment to fill in those imperfections? This is key to a long lasting installation. If your subfloor is questionable, please seek advice on how to remedy or choose another type of flooring for your conditions. This is the most important advice for a quality job. 7. Take your time and take breaks. Patience is the key to a quality job. Enjoy the project and have some fun with it. Once again- Lifeproof has offered an amazing product that you will enjoy.
