Advent is a season observed in most Christian denominations as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming. Advent is the beginning of the liturgical year in Western Christianity. The name was adopted from Latin adventus "coming; arrival", translating Greek parousia from the New Testament, originally referring to the Second Coming.

The season of Advent in the Christian calendar anticipates the "coming of Christ" from three different perspectives: the physical nativity in Bethlehem, the reception of Christ in the heart of the believer, and the eschatological Second Coming.

Practices associated with Advent include Advent calendars, lighting an Advent wreath, praying an Advent daily devotional, erecting a Christmas tree or a Chrismon tree, lighting a Christingle, as well as other ways of preparing for Christmas, such as setting up Christmas decorations, a custom that is sometimes done liturgically through a hanging of the greens ceremony.

The analogue of Advent in Eastern Christianity is called the Nativity Fast, but it differs in meaning, length, and observances, and does not begin the liturgical church year as it does in the West. The Eastern Nativity Fast does not use the term parousia in its preparatory services.

A calendar is a system of organizing days. This is done by giving names to periods of time, typically days, weeks, months and years. A date is the designation of a single and specific day within such a system. A calendar is also a physical record (often paper) of such a system. A calendar can also mean a list of planned events, such as a court calendar, or a partly or fully chronological list of documents, such as a calendar of wills.

Periods in a calendar (such as years and months) are usually, though not necessarily, synchronized with the cycle of the sun or the moon. The most common type of pre-modern calendar was the lunisolar calendar, a lunar calendar that occasionally adds one intercalary month to remain synchronized with the solar year over the long term.

A holiday is a day or other period of time set aside for festivals or recreation. Public holidays are set by public authorities and vary by state or region. Religious holidays are set by religious organisations for their members and are often also observed as public holidays in religious majority countries. Some religious holidays, such as Christmas, have become secularised by part or all of those who observe them. In addition to secularisation, many holidays have become commercialised due to the growth of industry.

Holidays can be thematic, celebrating or commemorating particular groups, events, or ideas, or non-thematic, days of rest that do not have any particular meaning. In Commonwealth English, the term can refer to any period of rest from work, such as vacations or school holidays. In American English, the holidays typically refers to the period from Thanksgiving to New Year's (late November to January 1), which contains many important holidays in American culture.

Vibes may refer to:

  • Vibes (percussion) or vibraphone, a musical instrument
  • Vibes (company) a mobile marketing company
  • The aura or energy given off by someone

From past Sephora Gift Advent boxes – this one is a MAJOR set in the right direction.
This is the perfect box to give a teenage girl who’s wanting to experience makeup or the mom who wants to experience the advent calendar experience with her kids. Or those secret Santa gift exchanges with girlfriends – perfect gift!
There’s honestly lots of great things in this box – Sephora’s skincare line is NOT to be ignored (affordable, made in France, and easy to use), the sephora nail polishes and lippie is also valued great in the box.
And let’s be realistic here – majority are mini sizes which is in 99% of all advent boxes (example: luxury ones like the Charlotte Tilbury is heavy on the mini item size). If you want to spend $200-$400 on an advent for a couple full sizes go on ahead – but don’t hate on this.

This advent calendar is a novelty item, so don’t expect high quality, full-sized items. It’s perfect for a gift, especially for the tween/teen age bracket. I’m also a sucker for nice packaging, and this product delivers!

At about $2 per item, I’m giving it a chance. if you are looking for higher quality items you need to be looking in higher cost boxes. So maybe there are a few misses and not enough hits. it’s going to be fun to open my calendar while the kids open theirs.

This advent calendar is always such a fun little treat during the holidays. It’s a fun surprise to look forward to each day, especially if you don’t read too much into what it includes so that you can keep the surprise factor.
Its also nice because it’s a decent sized item. It’s big enough to stand alone and can be decorative as well.
The Sephora Collection advent calendar seems to get mixed reviews each year. Some of the negatives stating “it’s not worth the price”, “the gifts are boring”, “you end up giving the items away”.
    To that, I can say
    1. The value of these items if bought separately truly is over $100, so this unit is over 50% off
2.The gifts inside stay true to the most popular products of the Sephora Collection, and the calendar includes many full sized products which when used are helpful, enjoyable and easy to use.
    3. As far as having to “give away most of the products”… ‘tis the season for giving! The items make great gifts and stocking stuffers if you find that REALLY want to get rid of them that badly.
