The cat (Felis catus), also referred to as the domestic cat, is a small domesticated carnivorous mammal. It is the only domesticated species of the family Felidae. Advances in archaeology and genetics have shown that the domestication of the cat occurred in the Near East around 7500 BC. It is commonly kept as a pet and farm cat, but also ranges freely as a feral cat avoiding human contact. Valued by humans for companionship and its ability to kill vermin, the cat's retractable claws are adapted to killing small prey such as mice and rats. It has a strong, flexible body, quick reflexes, and sharp teeth, and its night vision and sense of smell are well developed. It is a social species, but a solitary hunter and a crepuscular predator. Cat communication includes vocalizations—including meowing, purring, trilling, hissing, growling, and grunting—as well as body language. It can hear sounds too faint or too high in frequency for human ears, such as those made by small mammals. It secretes and perceives pheromones.

Female domestic cats can have kittens from spring to late autumn in temperate zones and throughout the year in equatorial regions, with litter sizes often ranging from two to five kittens. Domestic cats are bred and shown at events as registered pedigreed cats, a hobby known as cat fancy. Animal population control of cats may be achieved by spaying and neutering, but their proliferation and the abandonment of pets has resulted in large numbers of feral cats worldwide, contributing to the extinction of bird, mammal, and reptile species.

As of 2017, the domestic cat was the second most popular pet in the United States, with 95.6 million cats owned and around 42 million households owning at least one cat. In the United Kingdom, 26% of adults have a cat, with an estimated population of 10.9 million pet cats as of 2020. As of 2021, there were an estimated 220 million owned and 480 million stray cats in the world.

Food is any substance consumed by an organism for nutritional support. Food is usually of plant, animal, or fungal origin and contains essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. The substance is ingested by an organism and assimilated by the organism's cells to provide energy, maintain life, or stimulate growth. Different species of animals have different feeding behaviours that satisfy the needs of their metabolisms and have evolved to fill a specific ecological niche within specific geographical contexts.

Omnivorous humans are highly adaptable and have adapted to obtain food in many different ecosystems. Humans generally use cooking to prepare food for consumption. The majority of the food energy required is supplied by the industrial food industry, which produces food through intensive agriculture and distributes it through complex food processing and food distribution systems. This system of conventional agriculture relies heavily on fossil fuels, which means that the food and agricultural systems are one of the major contributors to climate change, accounting for as much as 37% of total greenhouse gas emissions.

The food system has significant impacts on a wide range of other social and political issues, including sustainability, biological diversity, economics, population growth, water supply, and food security. Food safety and security are monitored by international agencies like the International Association for Food Protection, the World Resources Institute, the World Food Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the International Food Information Council.

This Fancy Feast my crew cannot get enough of. It is definitely their favorite!

First off…I have 11 cats. I try to pay attention to what they like and don’t like and sometimes I succeed. All of them love this food – but only one will eat nothing BUT this food. If I even try to give her something else, she’ll sniff at it and then sit there, giving me these sad, “Okay you obviously don’t love me anymore so I’ll just sit here and quietly starve” eyes. Breaks my heart every single time…so now she gets this food…EVERY time. Please Fancy Feast….don’t stop making this food…ever. I can’t handle the guilt.

As others have already mentioned, this food is my kitty’s favorite. She doesn’t like chunks and this pate has an extra smooth, buttery texture that she loves. It’s the only pate that I’ve found where I don’t have to throw much of it away (that includes the regular “Classic” FF pates). It may be more expensive but she consumes more of it which makes it more of a value to me. You can’t find this in stores anymore. And it’s so very frustrating that Fancy Feast only has the variety pack available sporadically — single flavor packs are seemingly a thing of the past. Even the local cat rescue lists this as one of the 2 approved canned foods that they feed their kitties. Fancy Feast, please bring this back into regular rotation.

Just got Chewy’s “Your Item Is Back In Stock” email, and immediately placed an order. So, kudos to Chewy for actually having a working system to keep us informed! My cat loves Fancy Feast Savory Centers, and eats all four flavors. Every can. Every time. What makes Savory Centers so special and to my cat’s liking, is that it is BOTH a pate AND comes with generous gravy. She wants pate — not grilled or chunks — and she wants gravy. Rocket science, right? It is so critical to her health for her to actually eat a can of wet food everyday, in addition to her dry food and treats, so that the moisture content keeps her bowels moving. For her dry food she gets “Hill’s Prescription Diet i/d Dry Cat Food,” which we get from our vet (as it is a prescription product). The i/d is their digestive care product. So, sure, Savory Centers is a bit “pricey,” but Chewy’s pricing is as good and fair as you’ll find anywhere. Importantly, Chewy never price gauges us, and I have never received banged-up dented cans from Chewy, yet! (In fact, it was the price gauging and unusable damaged product I kept receiving from the world’s largest online retailer and/or their 3rd party vendors that led me to find Chewy in the first place.) FWIW, regardless of the price, it’s a whole lot cheaper than a vet visit when the cat gets plugged-up when she’s not getting her favorite Savory Centers wet food she actually eats. Chewy good; food good; product quality good; cat eating; cat pooping; everybody’s happy 🙂

My cats love it!! Just wish you guys had it back. It’s been like 2 months and my cats are driving me crazy not having this food. They love it. They really want the gravy that’s in the food. That’s what they crave and they won’t really eat any other food. I’m trying so hard for them to eat anything. I cry just about everyday cause you guys don’t have any in inventory. It feels longer then 2 months. I know it takes sometime but bring it back please soon!

My babies love this food, especially the blue. It has been impossible to get this consistently during Covid. I am on auto ship with numerous places. I was down to my last can of blue and another 24 pack arrived today. My cats love this food.

Always seems to be “out of stock” EVERYWHERE , and for good reason, cats love this stuff! Doesn’t look the most appetizing to me, but my cats love this flavor/brand!
