The term cordless is generally used to refer to electrical or electronic devices that are powered by a battery or battery pack and can operate without a power cord or cable attached to an electrical outlet to provide mains power, allowing greater mobility. The term "cordless" should not be confused with the term "wireless", although it often is in common usage, possibly because some cordless devices (e.g., cordless telephones) are also wireless. The term "wireless" generally refers to devices that use some form of energy (e.g., radio waves, infrared, ultrasonic, etc.) to transfer information or commands over a distance without the use of communication wires, regardless of whether the device gets its power from a power cord or a battery. The term "portable" is an even more general term and, when referring to electrical and electronic devices, usually means devices which are totally self-contained (e.g., have built-in power supplies, have no base unit, etc.) and which may also use wireless technology.

Dyson, I love you! I have more hair appliances than I can count. I will always own a Dyson Hair Dryer and now the Dyson Hair Straightener. Between the two Dyson’s, my hair is coiffed perfectly in less than 10 minutes. I might as well toss out all others. When I use the Dyson Straightener, my hair styles exactly what I want it to do … in one pass! My hair stays in place for at least two days, if not three. Other hair straighteners almost worked, but I’d have to go over and over to get my hair in the style I wanted. Yes the Dyson Straightner is a bit heavier, but with the results I’m seeing it’s a non issue. No cord tangling around me too! Worth every dollar!

Curls last less long that with a standard curling iron, hair looks dull. Disappointing.

I’m hesitant to recommend a product that is so expensive, however, Dyson has made an wonderful product. My hair looks like I just walked out of a salon with volume and shine and for some reason my highlights pop. This straightener heats up quickly and using the cord free option makes using it easy. I also have the hairdryer and this item compliments it well.

I have very kinky curly hair and have found this to do a great job of smoothing and styling my hair with ease. It is a little on the heavy side, but I have found that as you use it the weight becomes less of an issue.
Upon reading reviews for this straightener, I can understand the frustration. The reason the straightener will not heat up is because YOU MUST REMOVE THE BLACK FOAM UNDER THE AIRPLANE TAB IN ORDER TO PLUG IT IN. The reviews are correct in stating that the “instruction” booklet is very confusing and really offers no useful help at all. You must go online and print out the actual instruction booklet. I found that helpful. Although the battery doesn’t last 30 minutes when it’s fully charged like the booklet states. You can use it while it is plugged in. A little patience can prove rewarding.
