Space saver — With corner supports that maximize user legroom, the Dulwich Extension Table is available in a round or rectangular shape. Both feature a sliding steel mechanism that makes size changes easy, with additional leaves stored below the tabletop.

Since graduating from London’s Kingston Polytechnic in 1979, Matthew Hilton has built a following for his innovative furniture and lighting, with pieces held in the permanent collections of London’s Geffrye and Victoria & Albert Museums, among others. His Dulwich Extension Table (2016) – pronounced “dull-itch,” just like its London neighbor Greenwich – is a masterclass in function and craft. The piece’s slender legs draw outward from the corners, maximizing user legroom, while details like mitered joints and visible through-tenons speak to its artistry. Finished with a solid-wood edge banding for durability, the tabletop has a locking steel mechanism that easily opens to accommodate the table’s additional leaves. The rectangular table is made in Malaysia (walnut) or Lithuania (oak), and the round one in Thailand.

One rectangular table, three sizes.
Simply pull one end of the table and the top smoothly expands, allowing insertion of up to two leaves for three possible table lengths: 62.25″, 80″ and 97.25″.

Designed for small spaces, the round table extends from 49.25″ to 68.25″ with one leaf.

After guests depart, store the leaves in the felt-lined compartment under the top – a feature that eliminates the “find the leaf” drama before gatherings.

    I’d echo what others have written here. The table looks beautiful and the extension feature is great. However after just a few days there are already some scratches showing on the table top, and all we’ve done is eat a few meals on plates so far. Will see how it holds up over time but it does appear to be quite sensitive to daily use.

    The Dulwich is a very elegant table and the walnut is a beautiful, deeper shade than most other walnut pieces at DWR. The extension mechanism is very slick and the table stores the two extension leaves inside, which makes expanding and contracting the table very convenient.

    We use the table in our dining room and as some have pointed out, the table seems somewhat prone to dings and scratches if one isn’t careful. Out of all our DWR pieces, this is definitely our favorite so far.

    Bought this table with the walnut finish and still enjoy looking at the natural patterned top. It is a real wood laminate-that is only way to keep it solidly straight and true. I have not had any scratching or denting with my experience. Excellent table and a great price. Can go modern or eclectic. Would buy again.

    I bought my table as a floor sample and was fine with the two scratches it had. But I’ve had it for six months now and I’ve added quite a few more. I dropped a butter knife once and it left a very deep vent. I love the look and functionality of the table but I agree with the other review that is easily prone to scratching.
