Intelligently and purposefully designed

Keep your cool: All of the decisions made through the design process for the desktop were made purposefully to maximize performance and airflow. Starting with the use a front bezel which allows the airflow path to draw cool air from front to back over graphics cards and CPU, the power supply unit and the M.2 SSD storage. Finally, the open architecture layout means nothing is sitting on top of the CPU and GPU, limiting airflow.

Regulated cooling: Our engineers designed this system to include voltage regulator cooling with select processors to ensure system optimal performance by maintaining adequate airflow over the VR components. They also selected an optimal location for the placement of the M.2 SSD to maximize performance and rigorous, proprietary testing ensures that all system components are kept cool, even under the most intensive loads.

Designed to stay quiet: The XPS Desktop Special Edition was designed to blend into your environment, whether that be a family room, office or kitchen, you can be assured your desktop will stay quiet, even when it’s performing at its highest. The desktop uses high RPM fans, with a maximum system fan speed of 4500 rpm to more efficiently cool. Fans can run slower, therefore at lower acoustics.

Intel Corporation is an American multinational corporation and technology company headquartered in Santa Clara, California, and incorporated in Delaware. Intel designs, manufactures and sells computer components and related products for business and consumer markets. It is considered one of the world's largest semiconductor chip manufacturers by revenue and ranked in the Fortune 500 list of the largest United States corporations by revenue for nearly a decade, from 2007 to 2016 fiscal years, until it was removed from the ranking in 2018. In 2020, it was reinstated and ranked 45th, being the 7th-largest technology company in the ranking.

Intel supplies microprocessors for most manufacturers of computer systems, and is one of the developers of the x86 series of instruction sets found in most personal computers (PCs). It also manufactures chipsets, network interface controllers, flash memory, graphics processing units (GPUs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), and other devices related to communications and computing. Intel has a strong presence in the high-performance general-purpose and gaming PC market with its Intel Core line of CPUs, whose high-end models are among the fastest consumer CPUs, as well as its Intel Arc series of GPUs, and sponsors the Intel Extreme Masters, a series of international esports tournaments. The Open Source Technology Center at Intel hosts PowerTOP and LatencyTOP, and supports other open source projects such as Wayland, Mesa, Threading Building Blocks (TBB), and Xen.

Intel (Integrated electronics) was founded on July 18, 1968, by semiconductor pioneers Gordon Moore (of Moore's law) and Robert Noyce, along with investor Arthur Rock, and is associated with the executive leadership and vision of Andrew Grove. The company was a key component of the rise of Silicon Valley as a high-tech center, as well as being an early developer of SRAM and DRAM memory chips, which represented the majority of its business until 1981. Although Intel created the world's first commercial microprocessor chip in 1971, it was not until the success of the PC in the early 1990s that this became its primary business.

During the 1990s, the partnership between Microsoft Windows and Intel, known as "Wintel", became instrumental in shaping the PC landscape and solidified Intel's position on the market. As a result, Intel invested heavily in new microprocessor designs in the mid to late 1990s, fostering the rapid growth of the computer industry. During this period, it became the dominant supplier of PC microprocessors and was known for aggressive and anti-competitive tactics in defense of its market position, particularly against AMD, as well as a struggle with Microsoft for control over the direction of the PC industry.

Since the 2000s and especially the late 2010s, Intel has faced increasing competition from AMD, resulting in a significant decline of its dominance and market share in the PC market. Nevertheless, with a 68.4% market share as of 2023, Intel still leads the x86 market by a wide margin.

I purchased the new Dell XPS 8940 to solve my speed and workspace needs. What a dream machine!!!!! It meets all my needs as far as speed and Ram issues. I can work on huge spreadsheets with little to no problem with speed and capacity to run multiple workbooks at the same time. Love it and I would recommend this machine to anyone looking to solve your remote working issues.

Purchasing a dell was simple and straight forward and I got exactly the specs I was looking for. Being able to finance as well was so much better then dumping all that money on a credit card. Overall a positive experience and will most likely buy another dell in the future.

Bought it about a week ago and it runs very well so far. it’s crashed once so far and hopefully doesn’t happen too frequently. but overall it’s working great. It’s not letting me click next to send this review. Do I have to keep typing until it lets me hit next? Maybe the review title isn’t long enough; I’ll make it longer. Nope, I still can’t hit next. How do I send this review? Oh I have to give you my email too. The email field is invisible so I didn’t notice it. I’ll put my email in there now. If this is the last sentence it means that putting my email address worked.

I ordered the computer while waiting at an airport. I’ve bought Dell PCs in the past and had no doubt about buying from Dell again. The PC arrived and I had it setup in less than an hour including the installation of the software I use the most. So far, I have seen no glitches and also haven’t been pestered with unwanted email from Dell. I wish more companies were like Dell.

The solid state drive just makes a huge difference in speed and it’s so quiet, as well. I am very please and glad I opted for the 2 GB Solid state with an additional 2 GB Hard Drive…you can never have too much space!

When purchasing the computer, I asked if it came with a fan? The rep said yes. its inside. I told him that’s good because I like to keep the computer cool. My last computer lasted 10 years due to me having duel fans. Anyways, after a few days now having it, I haven’t hear a fan come on so I am assuming there isn’t one. I would have gladly paid for one, just don’t like being mislead.

New computer for me after a number of years. The setup was very easy, so far everything is going good. It seems really fast, the graphics card seems to be very good also. I use two computers with a KVMP switch to share everything between the two computers and this one accepted it well. The is always a lot of resetting with a new computer but it is going nicely. So far well done Dell. Everything was also just as I ordered it, it even showed up a day early.

I’m 76 and don’t think that I will need another Windows PC. This machine is super fast and fun. My last machine was 5 years ago and it slowed down just like me. Soooo I spent the Biden Stimulus Money and got a new one. Not worried when I run out He will send me more.

This is my 3rd Dell desktop. I purchased it with an i7 Intel processor, 1Tb SSD hard drive, 32Gb RAM and 6Gb NVidia 1660i graphics card. The speed is amazing.

The first four calls about the same problem were nightmares. The different individuals spoke so fast, I could only catch a word here and there. I repeatedly ask them to slow down with out success. They eventually passed me to the next person three time. Then the fourth one hung up. I called back and was transferred to a wonderful lady who slowed her speech so I could hear her clearly and understood what she said. She resolved the issue and walked me through how to resolve it if it happens again. I have been using home and work computers about 28 years. This was the worst experience at first that I have ever had until the last lady. She was great and knew what she was doing. Now my new Dell tower and keyboard are working well together great. Thanks!
