Red is the color at the long wavelength end of the visible spectrum of light, next to orange and opposite violet. It has a dominant wavelength of approximately 625–740 nanometres. It is a primary color in the RGB color model and a secondary color (made from magenta and yellow) in the CMYK color model, and is the complementary color of cyan. Reds range from the brilliant yellow-tinged scarlet and vermillion to bluish-red crimson, and vary in shade from the pale red pink to the dark red burgundy.

Red pigment made from ochre was one of the first colors used in prehistoric art. The Ancient Egyptians and Mayans colored their faces red in ceremonies; Roman generals had their bodies colored red to celebrate victories. It was also an important color in China, where it was used to color early pottery and later the gates and walls of palaces.: 60–61  In the Renaissance, the brilliant red costumes for the nobility and wealthy were dyed with kermes and cochineal. The 19th century brought the introduction of the first synthetic red dyes, which replaced the traditional dyes. Red became a symbolic color of communism and socialism; Soviet Russia adopted a red flag following the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917. The Soviet red banner would subsequently be used throughout the entire history of the Soviet Union, starting from 1922 and ending with its 1991 dissolution. China adopted its own red flag following the Chinese Communist Revolution. A red flag was also adopted by North Vietnam in 1954, and by all of Vietnam in 1975.

Since red is the color of blood, it has historically been associated with sacrifice, danger, and courage. Modern surveys in Europe and the United States show red is also the color most commonly associated with heat, activity, passion, sexuality, anger, love, and joy. In China, India, and many other Asian countries it is the color symbolizing happiness and good fortune.: 39–63

A vacuum (pl.: vacuums or vacua) is space devoid of matter. The word is derived from the Latin adjective vacuus (neuter vacuum) meaning "vacant" or "void". An approximation to such vacuum is a region with a gaseous pressure much less than atmospheric pressure. Physicists often discuss ideal test results that would occur in a perfect vacuum, which they sometimes simply call "vacuum" or free space, and use the term partial vacuum to refer to an actual imperfect vacuum as one might have in a laboratory or in space. In engineering and applied physics on the other hand, vacuum refers to any space in which the pressure is considerably lower than atmospheric pressure. The Latin term in vacuo is used to describe an object that is surrounded by a vacuum.

The quality of a partial vacuum refers to how closely it approaches a perfect vacuum. Other things equal, lower gas pressure means higher-quality vacuum. For example, a typical vacuum cleaner produces enough suction to reduce air pressure by around 20%. But higher-quality vacuums are possible. Ultra-high vacuum chambers, common in chemistry, physics, and engineering, operate below one trillionth (10−12) of atmospheric pressure (100 nPa), and can reach around 100 particles/cm3. Outer space is an even higher-quality vacuum, with the equivalent of just a few hydrogen atoms per cubic meter on average in intergalactic space.

Vacuum has been a frequent topic of philosophical debate since ancient Greek times, but was not studied empirically until the 17th century. Clemens Timpler (1605) philosophized about the experimental possibility of producing a vacuum in small tubes. Evangelista Torricelli produced the first laboratory vacuum in 1643, and other experimental techniques were developed as a result of his theories of atmospheric pressure. A Torricellian vacuum is created by filling with mercury a tall glass container closed at one end, and then inverting it in a bowl to contain the mercury (see below).

Vacuum became a valuable industrial tool in the 20th century with the introduction of incandescent light bulbs and vacuum tubes, and a wide array of vacuum technologies has since become available. The development of human spaceflight has raised interest in the impact of vacuum on human health, and on life forms in general.

The volt (symbol: V) is the unit of electric potential, electric potential difference (voltage), and electromotive force in the International System of Units (SI).

Wet may refer to:

  • Wetting (or wetness), a measure of how well a liquid sticks to a solid rather than forming a sphere on the surface

This will do anything. I have had less than a month and I have already used this several different times and ways. My husband and I cleaned out our garage and I absolutely didn’t want to use my vacuum cleaner so this was perfect. It worked so well and since it wasn’t heavy, I was able to use it. Got large pieces of trash and leaves that had blown in. Also used it to get some standing water that was in my garage. I will definitely be keeping this and using it for a long time.

This wet/dry vac worked excellent! It was extremely easy to assemble with easy to understand instructions. The suction is very strong, I used it and was surprised how well it worked. The cord is a good length that I don’t really have to worry about working close to an outlet. The hose has a clip so it doesn’t come unnattached when pulled by the hose. This shop vac saved us a lot of money recently we live in an older house and when it rains a lot our basement floods. I was able to use it with ease cleared the basement of water in no time. Emptying it was a breeze also I am extremely happy with my vac. Easy storage is always a bonus and I can store the hose and attachments inside the vac when not in use.

This is a very big vacuum with extra big hoses. It has incredible suction power. The large diameter hoses cut clean up time in half. It comes with a large capacity holding tank to handle the largest of jobs. It works great as a dry vac and doesn’t blow dust or dirt back into the air. Sucking up water is very easy with the large attachments that come with it. I like the drain being on the bottom so I don’t have to lift it to dump it out. I just wheel it to where I want to dump it and open the valve. Whoever thought of that feature is a genius. The large hoses cut clean up time in half. By far the best shop vac I have ever owned!

Excited to get a new Wet/Dry vac and what better brand to get than Craftsman. I had a different Craftsman model for more years that I can remember and loved it. Would still have it if my son in law didn’t “borrow” it. I’d have to say the wheels were the only thing that I had to put any time in when putting together. They weren’t hard to install but it took some wiggle and pushing. I love the size, 12 Gal as I mostly use mine to suck up saw dust and having one this size keeps me from having to empty it after every use. I’ve found this particular Vac to be quite powerful. It is a bit loud but I think that’s because of the powerful suction. It is lightweight but is made of great quality material. The power cord is long enough for me to move it all around my garage without having to plug into an extension cord.

Craftsman 12 Gal 6.0 Peak HP Wet/Dry Vac with Attachments is such a GREAT Vac!!. Cleaning with this vac is so quick and easy my husband breezed through the garage. It’s easy to assemble and very durable. With a 6.0 Peak HP it has great suction and moves around so easy. The assorted nozzle cleaning tools makes cleaning easy especially getting into crevices. It has a 20 ft power cord which is a plus and a rear blowing port which came in so handy. Once the garage was done I tackled the house. Craftsman 12 Gal 6.0 Peak HP Wet/Dry Vac with Attachments is very efficient and I highly recommend it.
