Ingredients

Carprofen

Carprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the carbazole and propionic acid class that was previously for use in humans and animals but is now only available to veterinarians for prescribing as a supportive treatment for various conditions in animals. Carprofen reduces inflammation by inhibition of COX-1 and COX-2; its specificity for COX-2 varies from species to species. Marketed under many brand names worldwide, carprofen is used as a treatment for inflammation and pain, including joint pain and postoperative pain.

My vet ordered this for my dog that’s got a tracheal collapse. He is doing well on it. I Crush it and put it in his other meds. He’s small and is a picky eater.

This was so much cheaper than at the vet. The pill was larger, but did not have any problem with Riley eating it. Chewed it with no complaints. The one from the vet, even though it was supposed to be chewable, Riley did not like it and had to hide it in food.

My elder (13 years) lab/ border collie mix, had a massive rise in her liver enzymes after taking one Carprofen chewable per day for 5 days. She had no issues taking the med when offered. She took each dose with her morning meal. Carprofen did an awesome job in relieving her hip pain. But as she is continuously on phenobarbital for seizures, the Carprofen overwhelmed her liver function.
