Installed the BCG in a 10.5″ .300 AAC/Blackout pistol. The slight added weight of the M16 bolt carrier over the AR15 bolt carrier resulted in some issues with not locking open on last shot. A quick change out of the buffer spring cleared that up and the gun runs great. As usual, Brownell’s parts are a great value and work well.

I needed this to run a Fostech Echo Sport binary trigger in my M&P 15 rifle. Used only the carrier and my original bolt to ensure headspace remained on point. Worked perfectly. Stakes are well done. Coating is nice. I find nothing that is not good about it. Well, only way it could be better is if it were free. Lol. Buy it!

Metallurgy has advanced since 1950. The qpq nitrate or salt bath finishes being used in Firearms is nothing new. That being said you can pay more for nostalgia. Or just buy something better. Don’t let the amount you pay fool you. Besides its Brownells

I trust Brownell for parts. I lubed up all the parts of this BCG with LSA and slid it up and down the upper (bought from Brownell, also) and all good. I torqued the barrel using Brownells extension tool and the BCG fitted flush to the rear of the upper so I know headspace is good.

I have 2 of these now and they have been fantastic. One in my Aero 14.5 upper and another in an FN M16A4 upper. Best bang for your buck IMO.

This BCG is great. I put one in MK18 build and M16A4 build. Both have over 1k rounds of brass and steel case ammo through them and they still look new. I highly advise getting one.

Bought this for a budget build. Really happy with it. The quality is good and so is the price. Thanks brownells

Nice Value line BCG, Have about 2500 rounds on it so far and no problems at all. What can I say. good price, in spec, it works, great, buy it.

This is a great value. Fit and finish are both great. The nitride finish is really tough, and seems to keep the lubricant on the surface very well (I use MPro-7 LPX). Very easy to clean compared to my phosphated BCGs.

First off, I’d have to say Brownells service has always been good, they may not always ship fast, but it is very reasonable and they always offer competitive pricing. This is my opinion so take it how you will, Toolcraft is my GO TO bargain BCG. They are proven and have great warranties. I decided to grab a brownell’s BCG this time, and I do not regret it. I have not function tested this BCG, if my opinion changes I will update this review, but if it remains the same months or years from now, it is still valid and I will not edit it. So if you’re wondering why the 4 star review, actually it’s 4.5 if I am being nitpicking. Pros: – Looks good, coating is consistent and smooth. – Nitride coating, so easier to clean than the old phosphate ones. – Lifetime warranty from Brownells – Good price, especially because brownell often runs sales and occasionally free shipping with no minimum. Con: – this is my only con, it has more tool markings than comparable brand (toolcraft). This does not have anything to do with function, but craftsmanship reflects quality in my opinion. I do not believe this is a renamed Toolcraft BCG, but I can be wrong. The bolt has different markings. For comparison sake, I have uploaded a few images highlighting the machining that I mentioned as a con, as well as the different markings. The top BCG is a lightly used Nitride Toolcraft (greased and shows a bit of wear) and the bottom is a brand new Brownell’s BCG. Overall I am very happy with the BCG I received, I am only being extra critical for review purposes, I do believe the BCG is well made, and should handle more ammo than I intend to shoot out of it. Again, Thanks Brownell’s I am glad you guys are offering lots of in house brands for us at home gunsmiths, and at a bargain price.
