Cooking, also known as cookery or professionally as the culinary arts, is the art, science and craft of using heat to make food more palatable, digestible, nutritious, or safe. Cooking techniques and ingredients vary widely, from grilling food over an open fire, to using electric stoves, to baking in various types of ovens, reflecting local conditions. Cooking is an aspect of all human societies and a cultural universal.

Types of cooking also depend on the skill levels and training of the cooks. Cooking is done both by people in their own dwellings and by professional cooks and chefs in restaurants and other food establishments.

Preparing food with heat or fire is an activity unique to humans. Archeological evidence of cooking fires from at least 300,000 years ago exists, but some estimate that humans started cooking up to 2 million years ago.

The expansion of agriculture, commerce, trade, and transportation between civilizations in different regions offered cooks many new ingredients. New inventions and technologies, such as the invention of pottery for holding and boiling of water, expanded cooking techniques. Some modern cooks apply advanced scientific techniques to food preparation to further enhance the flavor of the dish served.

A lid or cover is part of a container, and serves as the closure or seal, usually one that completely closes the object. Lids can be placed on small containers such as tubs as well as larger lids for open-head pails and drums. Some lids have a security strip or a tamper-evident band to hold the lid on securely until opening is desired or authorized. These are usually irreversible to indicate that the container has been opened. They can be made of varying materials ranging from plastic to metal.

With or WITH may refer to:

  • With, a preposition in English
  • Carl Johannes With (1877–1923), Danish doctor and arachnologist
  • With (character), a character in D. N. Angel
  • With (novel), a novel by Donald Harrington
  • With (album), a 2014 album by TVXQ
  • With (EP), a 2021 EP by Nam Woo-hyun

A wok (simplified Chinese: ; traditional Chinese: ; pinyin: huò; Cantonese Yale: wohk) is a deep round-bottomed cooking pan of Chinese origin. It is believed to be derived from the South Asian karahi. It is common in Greater China, and similar pans are found in parts of East, South and Southeast Asia, as well as being popular in other parts of the world.

Woks are used in a range of Chinese cooking techniques, including stir frying, steaming, pan frying, deep frying, poaching, boiling, braising, searing, stewing, making soup, smoking and roasting nuts. Wok cooking is often done with utensils called chǎn (spatula) or sháo (ladle) whose long handles protect cooks from high heat. The uniqueness of wok cooking is conveyed by the Cantonese term wohkhei: "breath of the wok".

We own a Bosch induction stove. Finding good multi-layer pans to cook evenly & efficiently is a challenge. We started out with 1- 12 inch frying pan and was so amazed by the quality! We have never seen this style of pan, same on the inside as outside. Being multi-ply (3 layers) the entire pan gets hot and cooks evenly. For induction owners, this is important because most induction pans out there heat only a small area on the bottom. The 3 ply construction of this pan allows for the heat to travel up the sides quickly. We are Lustre Craft owners, which are 7 ply, and these pans compare, yet shine for their own uniqueness. The ability to use metal cooking tools on a ‘non-stick pan’ is the reason we purchased. We can’t tell you how many ‘non-stick’ pans I’ve ruined. They last weeks at most.
I enjoyed that single Hexclad pan so much, I bought a set for myself and gifted for Xmas complete sets to 3 of my children.
Cooking has just become fun and easily cleaned up. Thank you for this innovative design. They are a bit heavy, and the handle stays cool. If you are concerned about the price, take my word for this… you won’t need to buy another pan again. Low and slow is the preferred way to cook but if you need to sear food the pan cleans just as easily. If you are the type who buys quality, look no further. My only complaint is for the price, I feel lids should be included with a pan purchase. Thank you for reading this and have a blessed day!

How did I ever live with out this? What was cooking before this…? I hope to never ever have to experience cooking with out my hex clad. Some people say they dont want to buy this because of price. Yes its pricey but when it WORKS price doesn’t matter as it is an investment!

I can see myself passing along this cookware to my kids! As well as them probably fighting over it heh.. I love how every part of this HUGE wok heats up! Even cooking everywhere on the sides as well as the bottom! It’s crazy!

I’m so glad I got my set! And this wok! I’ve actually used the wok more and I love the fact I can boil pasta in it one day and the next day can use it To deep fry. Mine will easily cook 2lbs of mac or 2lbs frozen fries!

And it’s all non stick AND I can use my metal utensils with it! Yes! Yes! And YAS! I love it! Literally threw out and donated all my other cool ware the same day I tested mine!

I love them! A dream for any type of cook from gourmet to box dinners you cant go wrong with these. Have to say they remind me of my cast iron skillets I use to own.. oh how I’ve missed them. So happy with my purchase been literally trying to find things to cook haha!

This WOK is most likely my new favorite cooking pot/pan i have ever used. it does not stick when i fry up hamburger and sausage to make various dishes. If a crust develops at the bottom…no problem just raise the heat a bit and it will peal off with a wooden spoon…this crust is my sons favorite ending.
