I travel between my office, project meetings and work sites on a daily basis. Prior to buying this bag, I was using an old, very functional but not very professional Timbuk2 backpack. That bag was great when I was commuting to work by bicycle in my 20s, but less great when I was showing up to meetings with external stakeholders, clients and VPs in my 30s. Enter the American Grain backpack. It was a huge upgrade to my professional presentation, and surprisingly not a significant step down in terms of space. Also, significant bonus points for being made in the USA with USA leather. It’s easy to find one or the other, but both is quite rare. Keep up the good work.

Was looking for a backpack for city trekking while traveling abroad. This pack had everything I was looking for: drawstring closure, leather, and quality manufacturing. Unfortunately it had two (for me) very important detractors. First was the straps, which the underside is leather, slips off the shoulders too easily. Some type of material should be added to create a bit of friction. This was the primary reason for returning the pack. Second issue is weight. This pack is heavy, though understandable due to the leather construction. Though it’s a significant issue, specifically when dealing with the “slick” straps.

Excellent bag, made with high quality leather. The perfect size to fit a 15-inch laptop and a few extra books or other items. The exterior pocket is relatively small but still useful.
