2020 (MMXX) was a leap year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2020th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 20th year of the 3rd millennium and the 21st century, and the 1st year of the 2020s decade.

The year 2020 was heavily defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to global social and economic disruption, mass cancellations and postponements of events, worldwide lockdowns, and the largest economic recession since the Great Depression in the 1930s. Geospatial World also called 2020 "the worst year in terms of climate change" in part due to major climate disasters worldwide, including major bushfires in Australia and the western United States, as well as extreme tropical cyclone activity affecting large parts of North America. A United Nations progress report published in December 2020 indicated that none of the international Sustainable Development Goals for 2020 were achieved. Time magazine used its sixth ever X cover to declare 2020 "the worst year ever," although the cover article itself did not go as far, instead saying, "There have been worse years in U.S. history, and certainly worse years in world history, but most of us alive today have seen nothing like this one." The Golden Raspberry Awards also awarded the year the Special Governor's Award for The Worst Calendar Year EVER! at their 41st ceremony.

samsung is running a showtime promotion for a 6-month free trial. however, showtime app on tv cannot play 4k movies. my 4-years old roku can runs 4k showtime movies without a glitch. it’s a dumb promotion. samsung must update such old apps. this tv has outdated ports on the back panel, which are not acceptable for a thousand dollar tv. a 100mbps ethernet port is so old and laughable in 2021. a gigabit ethernet is a minimum. i prefer a wired connection to a wifi for better performance. one argues that 4k streaming needs only 25mbps. a smart tv is a pc technically. it does more than streaming. you can use this tv for remote pc access, screen sharing, office 365, and pc gaming via steam link. smart remote is ok but not as convenient.

fought with the new tv for several days trying to fix a problem with the sound where the background music in various shows would drown out the voices. was just about to return the tv to costco. but as part of wandering through the menu settings, noticed the “general > intelligent mode” option which was set on in my case. suspicious of it, i turned it off and , voila, the sound started presenting as normal like our several other samsung tvs. i would have rated this tv 5 stars if samsung had provided a tip on sound concerns with intelligent mode in their trouble shooting material. i’d have to say that mode is anything but intelligent. pretty stupid that it screws up the sound on so many of the common shows we watched using it.

Best TV ever! I took my time to research for a great tv for our new home. Go with this one without a doubt! Amazing picture quality, remote control is very chic, love the brightness – it has a sensor controlling the brightness of the tv depending on the light of the room throughout the day. We love the ambiance mode feature – see the picture. Check the quality of the colors in the video attached. Also, get the right screws if you are mounting the tv on the wall. Hope my review helps you make a decision. I suggest to get a sound bar to take the sound to the next leve.
