Black is a color that results from the absence or complete absorption of visible light. It is an achromatic color, without hue, like white and grey. It is often used symbolically or figuratively to represent darkness. Black and white have often been used to describe opposites such as good and evil, the Dark Ages versus Age of Enlightenment, and night versus day. Since the Middle Ages, black has been the symbolic color of solemnity and authority, and for this reason it is still commonly worn by judges and magistrates.
Black was one of the first colors used by artists in Neolithic cave paintings. It was used in ancient Egypt and Greece as the color of the underworld. In the Roman Empire, it became the color of mourning, and over the centuries it was frequently associated with death, evil, witches, and magic. In the 14th century, it was worn by royalty, clergy, judges, and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and a high fashion color in the 20th century. According to surveys in Europe and North America, it is the color most commonly associated with mourning, the end, secrets, magic, force, violence, fear, evil, and elegance.
Black is the most common ink color used for printing books, newspapers and documents, as it provides the highest contrast with white paper and thus is the easiest color to read. Similarly, black text on a white screen is the most common format used on computer screens. As of September 2019, the darkest material is made by MIT engineers from vertically aligned carbon nanotubes.
A cleaner, cleanser or cleaning operative is a type of industrial or domestic worker who is tasked with cleaning a space. A janitor (US and Canada), also known as a custodian, porter or caretaker, is a person who cleans and might also carry out maintenance and security duties. A similar position, but usually with more managerial duties and not including cleaning, is occupied by building superintendents in the United States and Canada and by site managers in schools in the United Kingdom.
According to the Cambridge English dictionary a "cleaner" is "a person whose job is to clean houses, offices, public places, etc.:"; the Collins dictionary states that: "A cleaner is someone who is employed to clean the rooms and furniture inside a building." However, a cleaner does not always have to be employed and perform work for pay, such as in the case of volunteer work or community service. "Cleaner" may also refer to cleaning agents e.g. oven cleaner, or devices used for cleaning, e.g. vacuum cleaner.
Cleaning operatives may specialize in cleaning particular things or places, such as window cleaners, housekeepers, janitors, crime scene cleaners and so on. Cleaning operatives often work when the people who otherwise occupy the space are not around. They may clean offices at night or houses during the workday.
The term cordless is generally used to refer to electrical or electronic devices that are powered by a battery or battery pack and can operate without a power cord or cable attached to an electrical outlet to provide mains power, allowing greater mobility. The term "cordless" should not be confused with the term "wireless", although it often is in common usage, possibly because some cordless devices (e.g., cordless telephones) are also wireless. The term "wireless" generally refers to devices that use some form of energy (e.g., radio waves, infrared, ultrasonic, etc.) to transfer information or commands over a distance without the use of communication wires, regardless of whether the device gets its power from a power cord or a battery. The term "portable" is an even more general term and, when referring to electrical and electronic devices, usually means devices which are totally self-contained (e.g., have built-in power supplies, have no base unit, etc.) and which may also use wireless technology.
Dyson may refer to:
- Dyson (surname), people with the surname Dyson
- Dyson (company), a Singaporean multinational home appliances company founded by James Dyson
- Dyson (crater), a crater on the Moon
- Dyson (operating system), a Unix general-purpose operating system derived from Debian using the illumos kernel, libc, and SMF init system
- Dyson sphere, a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures most or all of its power output
- Dyson tree, a hypothetical plant suggested by physicist Freeman Dyson
- Eufloria (formerly called Dyson), a video game based on the idea of Dyson trees
- USS Dyson (DD-572), a United States Navy destroyer in commission from 1942 to 1947
- NOAAS Oscar Dyson (R 224), an American fisheries and oceanographic research ship in commission in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration since 2005
- Dysons, an Australian bus operator
- Dyson, a character in the Canadian television series Lost Girl
- The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, often referred to as "Dyson"
In physics and mechanics, torque is the rotational analogue of linear force. It is also referred to as the moment of force (also abbreviated to moment). The symbol for torque is typically , the lowercase Greek letter tau. When being referred to as moment of force, it is commonly denoted by M. Just as a linear force is a push or a pull applied to a body, a torque can be thought of as a twist applied to an object with respect to a chosen point; for example, driving a screw uses torque, which is applied by the screwdriver rotating around its axis. A force of three newtons applied two metres from the fulcrum, for example, exerts the same torque as a force of one newton applied six metres from the fulcrum.
A vacuum (pl.: vacuums or vacua) is space devoid of matter. The word is derived from the Latin adjective vacuus (neuter vacuum) meaning "vacant" or "void". An approximation to such vacuum is a region with a gaseous pressure much less than atmospheric pressure. Physicists often discuss ideal test results that would occur in a perfect vacuum, which they sometimes simply call "vacuum" or free space, and use the term partial vacuum to refer to an actual imperfect vacuum as one might have in a laboratory or in space. In engineering and applied physics on the other hand, vacuum refers to any space in which the pressure is considerably lower than atmospheric pressure. The Latin term in vacuo is used to describe an object that is surrounded by a vacuum.
The quality of a partial vacuum refers to how closely it approaches a perfect vacuum. Other things equal, lower gas pressure means higher-quality vacuum. For example, a typical vacuum cleaner produces enough suction to reduce air pressure by around 20%. But higher-quality vacuums are possible. Ultra-high vacuum chambers, common in chemistry, physics, and engineering, operate below one trillionth (10−12) of atmospheric pressure (100 nPa), and can reach around 100 particles/cm3. Outer space is an even higher-quality vacuum, with the equivalent of just a few hydrogen atoms per cubic meter on average in intergalactic space.
Vacuum has been a frequent topic of philosophical debate since ancient Greek times, but was not studied empirically until the 17th century. Clemens Timpler (1605) philosophized about the experimental possibility of producing a vacuum in small tubes. Evangelista Torricelli produced the first laboratory vacuum in 1643, and other experimental techniques were developed as a result of his theories of atmospheric pressure. A Torricellian vacuum is created by filling with mercury a tall glass container closed at one end, and then inverting it in a bowl to contain the mercury (see below).
Vacuum became a valuable industrial tool in the 20th century with the introduction of incandescent light bulbs and vacuum tubes, and a wide array of vacuum technologies has since become available. The development of human spaceflight has raised interest in the impact of vacuum on human health, and on life forms in general.

This tool is awesome! The oversized basket, large brush head and accessories that fit perfectly to do the job you need to do daily.
I really like the attachments and the one in particular the small brush to do the steps!
Again, once you get this tool the others are no longer needed.

I never disappointed with Dyson vacuum. Great suction with all useful and handy attachments. Always deep clean hard reach areas.

Got this about a month ago, and have been in love with it ever since! It’s all so easy to use, light enough to not be a hassle, and having the easy snap-on tool holder is a delight. I was initially worried about the battery not lasting the whole time, but I have yet to use a full charge while cleaning my whole house. Dyson has outdone themselves yet again and continue to raise the bar that they, themselves, already set so high.

This is the best Vacuum I have ever used! The V11 Outsize is extremely powerful and can clean an entire 3000 Square Foot plus house with one battery, it is also great having the spare one too. It is extremely flexible with all the included tools. It is also very easy to empty the bin. I would have never believed that I actually look forward to vacuuming the entire house!
It is a great purchase!!

Had this about a month now and I had owned many Dyson vacuum cleaners but never a cordless one. I was a bit nervous seeing I love my animal canister and the power it has. Let me tell you the cordless outside was anything but disappointing. It is amazing and has so much power I could not believe it. It also comes with an extra battery but one lasts so long I don’t even need that one!! They really did a great job on this vacuum and I would highly recommend this to anyone!

I have to vacuum every day because I have two shedding dogs. This is the strongest vacuum ever and has lots of room for the collected trash. It has a wide base so its suction takes up more room on the floor. The Dyson “ball” makes it easy to turn the machine to get into crevices. It is easy to empty the trash. I bought the stand so charging is so easy as the machine safely stands on it. I have gone through lots of vacuums. I hope this lasts because I love it! (Holding down the trigger is no issue).

I upgraded to the V11 Outsize – from the V6 Absolute – I love them both! The new features in the V11 Outsize are such convenient upgrades: it has a much larger chamber and is easier to empty in one step; the single head attachment is much easier, being able to sense and adjust from hard floor to carpet; the digital display showing battery life (and the extra battery!); and the ability to switch to 3 modes! I could go on and on – I show it to everyone I see and send pics of the amount it picks up daily. It is perfect for multiple animals – 2 Great Danes and 2 cats, that’s a lot of fur.
The only downsize is that it’s a bit heavier than I am used to. It’s an adjustment to how you hold it and you need to be careful not to twist your back while using it.

I’ll keep it brief. This vacuum takes up less space than my Dyson Animal Ball2, mounts to the wall, has two batteries that are rechargeable, and amazing suction. Four dogs, hardwood and carpet floors and this sucker does the job! I never have to sweep again. Best vacuum I have ever owned (and I say that about every Dyson I have ever owned because I keep upgrading with Dyson!)
Do yourself a favor and buy this. No more hassling with cords. No more storing a super heavy and bulky vacuum. This one is ready to go when you need it and so easy to put away. Isn’t that the problem with vacuums? We use them and then wait five days to put them away?! Not this one.
The only ONLY downfall is if you need to set it down in between rooms, it it top heavy. Not big enough of a downfall though to subtract a star!

i have been using Dyson vacuums for a while now. They are simply amazing. I love the fact that its super quiet and light compared to other vacuums I have tried so far. Its super convenient cleaning my car as well as the stairs. The best part of the vacuum is the fact that you can use different attachments depending on where and what you want to clean. Just Love love love the dyson products. Just bought my wife a Dyson Air Wrap, can’t wait for us to try it!!
